Da Nang, 17.01.2018 – IPP together with our partners in Danang are unveiling the Training of Trainer (ToT2) programme on Entrepreneurship and Innovation (E&I). Joining the programme, there are 23 lecturers and staff representing 12 universities, colleges, training institutions, research institutes and organizations supporting startups in the region. This activity is part of the cooperation program between the Vietnam-Finland Innovation Partnership Programme (IPP) and our two local partners, the Danang Startups Council (DSC) and Danang Business Incubator (DNES). ToT2 aims to expand the training programs on entrepreneurship and innovation in universities, promote the development of innovation and startup ecosystem in Vietnam.
From 2015 to present, IPP has organized a number of capacity building activities on E&I according to international standards for individuals, organizations and universities in Vietnam. In the past, IPP has trained and certified 12 innovation consultants on E&I, nearly 100 lecturers on E&I from more than 40 universities and colleges nationwide. The training contents are based on IPP open-source curriculum on Entrepreneurship and Innovation developed by IPP team of international experts from Finland and the United States. With the focus on providing knowledge, skills and tools for entrepreneurship through the application of innovative teaching methodologies. These ToT courses have contributed significantly to the development of startups and innovation ecosystem in Vietnam. By providing high-quality consultants and lecturers to promote changing mindset, sustainable development and a culture of innovation in Vietnam.
Currently, IPP is working with local organizations in Vietnam to replicate our ToT programmes. DSC and DNES are two of our partners from the Central region, selected by IPP to transfer knowledge related to the implementation of a ToT course, giving them the capacity to design, deliver and grant certification of a ToT course. organizing training on innovation and start-up “. Based on that, the two units can continue to conduct independent training courses later.
ToT2 Dang is an 8-day bootcamp training session held from 17 to 25 January 2018 at DNES’s Danang Coworking Space. The training is taught by three international trainers with many years of experience in teaching and consulting on E&I in many countries around the world. In addition, during the eight days of Bootcamp, guest speakers such as startup entrepreneurs, investors, ecosystem builders, etc. are invited to share experiences and open discussion with the participating lecturers.
Attending Danang ToT2 Opening Ceremony there are representatives from three co-organizers: Mr. Lauri Laakso – IPP Chief Technical Advisor, Dr. Vo Duy Khuong – Founder, DSC advisor, Mr. Tran Vu Nguyen – DNES Director, and representatives from press agencies together with international experts and participants.
Mr. Vo Duy Khuong, said: ” Acknowledging that universities are the source of high-quality human resources for startups, DSC has collaborated with IPP and DNES to jointly organize this course with the aim of improving the capacity for teaching on E&I for universities in the region, and at the same time, laying the foundation for establishing a network of E&I based lecturers”.
Representing our local partner, Mr. Vu Vu Nguyen, DNES Executive Director said: “Together with IPP and DSC, Da Nang Business Incubator (DNES) hope to provide a source of qualified professionals for the university, gradually introducing startups as a subject in universities, creating the next generation of students with the spirit of entrepreneurship and tools needed to start a successful business”
Upon graduation from ToT2 Danang, the lecturers will develop and implement training programs on E&I in various forms in to serve the need of each university. They will serve as an important resource to promote the sustainable and healthy development of startup ecosystem in the Central region and wider Vietnam.

Vietnam-Finland Innovation Partnership Program (IPP) is an Official Development Assistance (ODA) program financed jointly by the governments of Vietnam and Finland. IPP is in its second and final phase running through 2014-2018 with EUR 11 million budget. IPP targets long-term benefits for the Vietnamese economy and E&I ecosystem. About the Danang Startup Council (DSC)
DSC was established under the Decision No. 7853 / QD-UBND dated October 26, 2015 by Danang People’s Committee with the strategic vision of linking the development of startup ecosystem to Da Nang, promoting Danang vision of becoming the Startups City of Vietnam, where all businesses can find opportunities, support to growth, and also where many business ideas are incubated, and developed into successful business.
DNES is an Da Nang – based incubator focusing on helping seed-stage startups take off the ground. The incubator provides hands-on support with learning, office space, mentorship and networking opportunities. Selected startups will particpate in a program focused on fundamentals such as product-market fit, go-to-market, HR/team and fundraising. DNES is a public private partnership incubator, the only one of its kind. It has been accelerating over 30 founders in 4 batches since 2016.
